Celtic Man in Negotiations With Ange Postecoglou's Former Club

It looks like the Celtic man is in negotiations to join Ange Postecoglou's former club, Yokohama F. Marinos.

The name of Yokohama F. Marinos has come up a lot regarding Celtic in recent years. Of course, Ange Postecoglou was the manager of the J-League side before he made the move to Parkhead in 2021.

In following transfer windows, Celtic would sign players from Yokohama F. Marinos too. Daizen Maeda was signed in 2022 while Tomoki Iwata arrived this year.

Now, it looks like it is a Celtic coach who could be heading in the opposite and looks to be the top contender to become the next Yokohama F. Marinos manager.

Harry Kewell had an unremarkable managerial career in the lower divisions of English football before taking the coaching role at Celtic. He has worked with two great managers in Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers since then.

It looks like Kewell could be set to try his hand at management once again. This would be his most high-profile job yet and by some distance.

According to Sponichi, Kewell has emerged as the top candidate to become the new manager of Yokohama F. Marinos. According to those involved, negotiations are progressing smoothly, and if a formal decision is made, he will succeed Kevin Muscat.

Muscat has built on Postecoglou's successes at Yokohama F. Marinos. But now he has decided to leave the club and is looking towards his next challenge.

Muscat had been linked with clubs like Millwall and Rangers recently but neither move ended up taking place. It remains to be seen if he does ultimately end up managing in Europe after leaving Yokohama F. Marinos.

The success of Postecoglou in the Premiership and the Premier League has certainly opened up a lot of doors for Australian managers.

Celtic fans will not be too concerned about Muscat and what he does next. Their focus will be on Kewell.

Kewell leaving would certainly be a blow for Celtic. He has earned a lot of plaudits for the job that he has done since arriving at the club last year. It would be very difficult to replace a former Champions League winner. That is for sure.
