Jurgen Klopp Makes Confession About Ange Postecoglou's Celtic

Jurgen Klopp has made a confession about the Celtic team when they were being managed by Ange Postecoglou.

Jurgen Klopp and Ange Postecoglou will face each other for the first time in their managerial careers when Liverpool meet Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. But it looks like the German manager has admired the Australian's work since his time at Celtic.

Postecoglou was an unknown in European football when Celtic appointed him as their manager in 2021, after a failed pursuit to bring Eddie Howe to the club.

Celtic fans were sceptical about the appointment while Rangers supporters wrote him off before he had even landed in Glasgow.

What followed was one of the most entertaining periods in recent Celtic history. Postecoglou's team would go on to win five of the next six domestic competitions.

In the process, he became one of the most popular managers in the club's history. Not just because of the team's success on the pitch but his nature off it as well.

Unfortunately, Big Ange's run at Celtic proved to be a short one. After two very successful seasons at Parkhead, he would join Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

This weekend, Postecoglou will come up against one of the best managers in the world in Klopp. These are the types of matches that would have convinced him to leave Celtic for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

The Liverpool boss seems to have been aware of Postecoglou's quality longer than most in England.

According to the Daily Record, Klopp said:

“Tottenham are doing really well. Ange seems to be a top bloke. We haven’t met yet, I’m looking forward to meeting him, I’m pretty sure everybody knew that. When you saw Celtic play in recent years, what kind of coach he is, how good he is as a coach.

"He came to Tottenham when they were all desperate for some offensive football, and he’s delivering that, in a year when Harry Kane left the club. Yeah, he’s doing extremely well. They are doing extremely well. A well set-up team, exciting to watch, so it will be a real test – for both of us.”

Postecoglou is doing a superb job at Tottenham Hotspur as well. They are flying high in the Premier League and have exceeded all expectations. As for Liverpool, they seem to be Premier League contenders once again too.

Liverpool sit at 2nd and Tottenham Hotspur at 4th in the Premier League table. As a result, this is expected to be a blockbuster contest between two of England's best and most exciting teams.
