Reliable Journalist Reports Celtic Interest in £3 Million Midfielder

The reliable journalist has linked Celtic with a move for the £3 million-rated midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.

Celtic are expected to have a busier January transfer window than usual, thanks to their terrible form in recent weeks, which has resulted in allowing Rangers to not only get back into the title race but to have the momentum on their side too.

The fans have called for the club to sign established players in a number of positions in order to get their season back on track. Whether that will come to fruition or not remains to be seen.

The latest transfer rumours are not promising to be honest. Fabio Silva, Mathias Kvistgaarden and Will Dennis are some of the players to be linked with Celtic over the past few days.

None of them would be considered as established and experienced players. Now, another name has been added to that list.

According to Football Scotland, Romeo Amane has been watched closely by Celtic as they seek to add to their squad in January. Hacken are believed to be looking for a transfer fee around £3 million to sanction a move for the Ivorian midfielder.

Amane is 20 years old and plays for Swedish club, Hacken. He has impressed with his recent performances and is a regular for them in midfield.

Do Celtic need another young midfielder at the moment though? It was just in the summer that they signed Kwon Hyeok-kyu and Odin Thiago Holm, while Paulo Bernardo arrived on loan from Benfica.

None of them has established themselves in the starting XI. Kwon has not even debuted yet. Holm has shown moments of quality here and there but is still a raw talent. Bernardo has played a bit but has not done enough for the loan deal to be made permanent.

Last season presented a similar story. Tomoki Iwata is yet to establish himself in the team but has gotten more playing time lately. Oliver Abildgaard was signed on loan but that was cut short in the middle of the season as he struggled for playing time.

The only midfielder who made an impact was veteran Aaron Mooy. He ended up retiring at the end of the season.

In a situation like this, Celtic really do not need to sign another young midfielder. What they need to do is sign someone ready to start games from the off.

This feels like a transfer strategy where the club sign a number of high-potential youngsters with no real path into the starting XI, in hopes that one or two of them prove to be good signings and move for bigger transfer fees in the future.

With all that being said, if Celtic do end up signing Amane, he deserves backing from day one. It would be a mistake to write someone off based on how previous signings have worked out.
