Celtic Want to Sign Two Liverpool Players
Celtic could be busy in the last two weeks or so of the January transfer window. Their first signing looks set to be Nicolas Kuhn, who is closing in on a £3 million move from Rapid Vienna. Who will follow the German winger to Glasgow?
There are numerous positions where Celtic could do with additions. Left-back and goalkeeper have to be near the top of their transfer wishlist.
Interestingly, Celtic could look towards Liverpool to fill both those gaps in Brendan Rodgers' squad.
Celtic have done business with Liverpool once this season already. It was Nat Phillips' half-season loan spell, which was not great, to be honest, and has already ended.
Hopefully, the Rodgers connection can open a few more doors at Anfield. Not one but two of the Reds' players seem to be on Celtic's radar at the moment.
According to Transfers Scotland, Owen Beck looks likely to be joining Celtic on loan. The Scottish club are also interested in Liverpool goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher.
Signing either one of them would be viewed as excellent business on the part of Celtic. If they can bring both to Parkhead, they would have done very well and potentially set up two starting positions for years to come.
Of course, Celtic have not signed either of them so far in the January transfer window. Things might change over the next couple of weeks.
Beck does feel like the more likely of the two to join Celtic. When Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas are fit, the 21-year-old Liverpool youth graduate most likely won't have a place in Jurgen Klopp's team.
So, another loan spell could be very beneficial for Beck. Especially at a club like Celtic, where the pressure is to win almost every game, just like Liverpool. That was not the case at Dundee FC and would be a different experience for the left-back.
Pulling off a move for Kelleher seems a lot more difficult. While he is a cover option for Liverpool, there does seem to be a lot of interest in his signature.
