Celtic Targeting Move For 21-year-old Free Agent
Celtic will begin the process of picking themselves up after their disappointing result in the Champions League group stage opener away from home against Feyenoord on Tuesday.
The 2-0 loss was magnified after the Scottish side received two red cards. Gustaf Lagerbielke got his second yellow in the 63rd minute and Odin Thiago Holm was shown a straight red five minutes later.
One way to turn the page is by winning a competitive race to sign a higher-rated winger, who is available as a free agent right now.
According to Relevo, Nemanja Jovic was officially released by Partizan Belgrade on August 30, 2023. He is now a free agent. Celtic are one of the clubs interested in him. Teams like Rayo Vallecano, FC Basel, Sheffield United, Aston Villa, West Ham United and more are also being linked with the 21-year-old winger. Bundesliga and Ligue 1 sides are also keen.
The 21-year-old Serbian national first debuted for Partizan Belgrade in 2020 and made 95 appearances for the club before leaving. He has scored 11 goals across all of those games.
Now, multiple clubs are vying to sign Jovic on a free transfer after he became a free agent.
Celtic are believed to have joined the race in trying to sign the talented youngster. A long-term injury to Liel Abada makes the need to add a player at that position much more prevalent.
Whether the Scottish giants are able to land the coveted target is to be seen as teams across Europe are turning their attention to Jovic as one of the top free agents available after the summer transfer window closed.
