Celtic Player Set to Stay Despite Wanting to Leave
Celtic have made a few additions to their squad already as we head towards the close of the summer transfer window. The club have announced the signing of Luis Palma, who joins from Aris FC, and Nat Phillips, who is on a season-long loan from Liverpool.
Both those signings should go some way in improving this squad. To be honest, Celtic have not looked good at all at the start of the 2023/24 season.
Let's hope things improve from here. On the other hand, there could be a few players who head out of the club before the deadline strikes.
One player who was believed to be very likely to leave is Benjamin Siegrist. The Swiss goalkeeper was signed last summer and was expected to be competition for Joe Hart in goal.
Siegrist has barely featured since then. Even though Hart's performances have received a lot of criticism for a while. So, the writing is pretty much on the wall for the Swissman.
But according to Football Scotland, Siegrist is set to remain at Celtic. The Swiss goalkeeper had been seeking a loan exit but there were no viable options for him.
Of course, that is not a great position to be in for Siegrist. He looks set to stay on at Celtic Park despite the fact that future prospects of getting first-team chances are limited.
Celtic were also expected to bring in another goalkeeper if Siegrist left the club this summer. Now, those plans are expected to be shelved too.
Many Celtic fans will not be happy with the idea of going into another season with Hart as the number one.
The Englishman has never been great with the ball at his feet and mistakes appear to have crept into his game in recent times too. But for the time being, it looks like Hart will remain Celtic's first-choice goalkeeper.
