Celtic Continue to be Linked with Manchester City Starlet
The plans for Celtic during the summer transfer window appear to have changed drastically due to their circumstances. In the beginning, it was rumoured that they were primarily targeting wingers to replace Jota this offseason.
Injuries to a number of their defenders and a bad start to the season are now causing the club to look to add talents in several other positions for their 2023-24 campaign.
It has been suggested that they could make up to five signings in the coming days as they look to revamp and revitalise their roster.
Manchester City's Tommy Doyle is someone Celtic has been keeping tabs on according to The Scottish Sun.
He joined the Manchester youth academy in 2009 and made his debut with the senior team in 2019.
His only appearance for the English giants was in an EFL Cup game against Southampton. Doyle has been loaned out to three different teams in three years starting in 2021 with his most recent stint coming at Sheffield United.
Celtic isn't the only club rumoured to be interested in the Englishman. Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been linked with him after he helped Sheffield United earn promotion from the Championship to the Premier League last season.
The 21-year-old midfielder has struggled to make regular appearances which could sway him to join Celtic. Their upcoming Champions League group stage campaign could be an attraction for any youngster as well.
Making a significant financial commitment to sign the young midfielder permanently would be a surprise at this moment since it's one of the few positions that Celtic doesn't need to upgrade on. A loan move, perhaps with an option to buy included in it, cannot be ruled out.
