Brendan Rodgers Admits There is Interest in Celtic Man

Brendan Rodgers has admitted that there is interest in the Celtic man, as his Parkhead future seems uncertain.

There have been a lot of rumours about players leaving Celtic in the near future. But lately, it looks like the future of a high-profile coach is also uncertain.

When Harry Kewell arrived at Celtic during the time of Ange Postecoglou as manager of the club, it made all the sense in the world. The former Liverpool ace had tried his hand at management already but never really found his feet.

So, who better to learn from than the most successful manager in the history of Australian football in Postecoglou? It seemed like the perfect fit and the results on the pitch were promising as well, with Celtic scoring for fun at times last season.

That certainly enhanced the reputation of Kewell as a coach. Now, it looks like he could be set to follow in the footsteps of Postecoglou.

According to Sponichi, Kewell has emerged as the top candidate to become Yokohama F. Marinos' new manager.

Kevin Muscat did a great job at replacing Postecoglou at Yokohama F. Marinos. Now, he is on his way out. And it looks like the J-League club are looking to appoint their third consecutive Australian manager.

It looks like the links are more than just rumours. According to the Daily Record, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said to Sky Sports:

"I spoke to Harry about it after the game the other night and I am not sure how far down the road it is. He is still very much working here but there is a level of interest in him which does not surprise me because he is a talented guy.

"We will see what evolves from that over the next few days. He has already managed before, so it is not new to him. He has had a taste of it and I am always one that if staff members want to broaden their horizons then I am very encouraging of that. It is also a sign that you have talented people if other clubs want them."

If Kewell does leave Celtic for Yokohama F. Marinos, then the club will need to bring in a replacement for the Australian coach. Some interesting names have already been brought up.

Scott Brown is without a club right now. He was sacked by Fleetwood Town earlier this season and working as a coach with Rodgers, someone he already knows well, could help him improve.

Kolo Toure returning cannot be ruled out either. He has worked extensively with Rodgers in the past. The Ivory Coast legend did try his hand at management with Wigan Athletic but it did not go well. He lasted 9 games and did not win a single one.
